Wilderness Trips
S.T.E.P.S. can outfit and lead trips for
schools, church groups, and other organizations. Trips vary
in length from a single day to a week or more and focus upon
building group solidarity and teaching a variety of outdoor
skills.
Our staff has many years of experience
leading a wide variety of recreational and educational
programs in the out of doors, including wilderness camping,
technical rock climbing, mountaineering, whitewater rafting,
canoeing, kayaking and have run programs in Alaska, northern
Canada, Baja, and much of the mainland United States.
Program Elements
Trips
that run spring through fall often include hiking,
backpacking, canoeing, and rock climbing elements.
Other options, including sea kayaking, caving and
mountaineering can be added, location dependent. Trips
that run in the winter or early spring frequently focus on
cross country skiing and snow shoeing with a majority of
time spent learning cold winter camping and survival skills.
Programs Length
Programs
can range in length from one day for simple outings to
multi-element travel programs lasting up to several weeks in
